Marlins sign Johnson to four-year deal
The Florida Marlins have signed starting pitcher Josh Johnson to a four-year contract worth $39 million.
The deal comes just days after the Marlins made it known that they wanted to increase their payroll this season.
It’s one of the biggest contracts the Marlins have given out in franchise history. The deal for Hanley Ramirez is the only bigger deal handed out by Florida.
The Marlins have had the lowest payroll in baseball for the past four years, yet have remained competitive.
Johnson went 15-5 with a 3.23 ERA last year and made the All-Star team. He will be the leader of the staff for years to come.
